    MA115 warning

Post by mikearnopol on Thu May 22, 2014 1:14 pm

Just received the 1000watt Faital 15 and six Faital 4's. This cab should go about as loud as two of the MA112's.

It will require a physician's approval and signed waiver before use.

    I'm building it this weekend.

    ok---this is immature

I had to check if Uline had a box to fit it. Yaaaay!

    48 x 24 x 28 triple wall $33 each

(again---the cab is big but not THAT big--42x19x24)

I'm looking into a 800 watt amp to build into it----just a preamp would then be necessary. Same power module as in the Glockenklang Blue Sky ($2000 street price for the Glock)(Hypex module---much better than the Ice modules you see in digital amps)

I am so envious that Uline is so close to you.

Cool! I think it would be worth investigating putting a transformer coupled front end interface on the power module for the powered cabs. Could be a nice differentiator and Jensen offers decent price breaks. Might add another $70 but that wouldn't likely be an issue for the target market.

OK---cab is constructed---I'll have it loaded by tomorrow.

The weight comes in at 78# (fully loaded)---I'm very pleased with that. The back top and bottom are angled like a fridge. Like a fridge it will have fixed wheels on the angled bottom and a towel bar type handle on the top . Skid rails will be an option. It's actually not bad to move since the width is only 19 1/2. I'll  find a good balance point for the dog bones. You know---I'm really warming up to the dog bones. To be honest, at first I thought them to be a little bit DIY looking, but they're the easiest handles for carrying IMO---better than the recessed.

    Ampeg SVT  48 x 26 x 16     140#
    MA115        42  x 24 x 19 1/2     78#

effective Vd  (amount of air moved)

    SVT    1050cc's
    MA115  1700 cc's

Could my Mesa 400 power it? Say, how about sending it down for a good break-in and review. I'll return it, I promise. Wink

You could disarm North Korea with a 115 with the 400.

Any interest in an MA-215? It would be only 6" taller and 1.5" wider than the unit in the photo.

I'm going to get one of those five gallon water jugs and keep dropping coins and dollar bills into it until I can afford a 1 (or 2) 15 cabinet (and a cruise for the wifey to help smooth it over).

You'll have some time to save up. The 15" or BFH (Big F'n Hammer) project is going to take a little time. It is part of an overall larger corporate platform project.

Nothing for public consumption, yet. I was working on the project yesterday, however.
