Pics of the first 110Flex that went out and a new MAS46. I'm super happy with it. Jerry at Eminence engineered a new woof with an fs of 34hz which is crazy. (especially for a 6---the prevoius one was 39 hz). The midrange came up a bit also. I'm using 4 of the Faital 3" drivers. They go as high as 18khz. Paper cone sound all the way. The new 46 goes about the same volume as the Flex but obviously with just one sound.Played a gig on the new 46 on Saturday and it was monstrous.

The 110 is punchy beyond belief but not ever wanky. (I can't get a 15/6 to not sound wanky in the mids)

    The Flex is 26 x 20 1/2 x 14 1/2 and 52#
    The 46 is   26 x 15 x 13 1/2 and around 41#

Interesting thing is that I had a Fearful 15/6 around. Both the 46 and 110 went as loud in the low end as the Fearful.

    MAS66 ?

Post by 5StringPocket on Tue Sep 10, 2013 9:13 pm

That new MAS46 looks very promising.  Between that new OEM 6, the Faital 3" mid/tweets, new crossover, and Okume construction for a bit more strength and hardness this 6-based line looks ready to roll!  Still working off some excess inventory to make room for a pair of Big E's.  Is the MAS66 a possibility?  That Flex210 looks like the ultimate single cab for bass/PA use but the schlepp factor of the MAS66 for one-man moves up and down stairs is compelling if you don't need all the brute force a pair of Flex210's would bring.  Would the new MAS66 be about 22"x26"x13.5", 55#, 5.3 ohms, 600W rms each?  Also, would corner handles for better gripping and a pole mount cup be possible?  Thanks.

Really excited  about the 46 being a 4 ohm solution! Just got the jule De Monique Tardis . Has anyone tried this with any Big E cabs?

Haven't played the Monique/ Demeter combo but have played the Monique with the power section of the Puma 900---should be pretty similar. The Monique really shines with the Big E stuff. I find that the Monique has more nuance than any other preamp I've tried. Maybe the Reeves, too.

The dynamic nuance of the Monique seems to be more pronounced with the Big E's.The quality of the "notes jumping out" is really brought out with the Monique. I don't know if I could think of a better combination.

Now if I could only get JGR to build an all-tube amp------

Is this the Flex that you sent me?

Man, if I continue to hear more raves about the Monique pre, I may have to eventually figure out a way to fund one.

Love the DeM/46 combo. The Demeter M800D is a killer amp too!

I'm running a Monique dove cage into a Minnie into a 45/110. I'm not sure how to describe the tone, it's like its own instrument. Have you ever heard a really huge choir, it kinda like that.... I'm not sure how it's possible, it's like nothing I've ever heard. I feel like I'm learning to play all over again.

I really like the 45/110, especially separated. But I hate the pole... I'm thinking about replacing the pole with a 46 Wink, as soon as an 8 ohm version becomes available.

Hy I'm super interested in what the dove cage sounds like with upright. I couldn't be more pleased with the new 46 for upright, it is beyond my expectations and has me rethinking everything. I have run a few pickups thru it, FC, Aptflex, Underwood, Gage, and DPA 4099 and truth iis ALL of them sound completely different then with other cabs and almost all are suddenly totally usable and way wider dynamic range. I find that I can use the Underwood for example (a pickup that sounds pretty ugly thru the same set up (EDB1>AI Focus fxreturn) into the EA Wizzy 10, and get so much better a sound, that the balance between what is good and bad about the Underwood shifts in its favor, namely its utter clarity and punchyness, and what usually sucks (the nasal twang and ugly mids) is so dialed out and filled with thumpy goodness, that I like it.
With this big a change I am really wanting to hear these different pickups thru the Monique and the 46. And I wonder about a different power amp too like the minnie.
